REVIEW FROM BOOKS FOR HER:
It was refreshing to take a break from my usual lighthearted historical romance, and step into another place in our nation’s history and deep into the mind of Jonah Williams, a runaway slave on his way to the north and freedom. The writing is so simple and uncomplicated – but lyrical in its own way. Without too much pretense, Chasing the North Star is how literature should be – guileless, poetic and engaging. Robert Morgan expertly builds both Jonah and Angel, a fellow runaway slave following Jonah north, to captivate readers in their simplicity and honest approach to life just trying to find their place in a challenging time. The characters are key, but so is their journey. A must-read for American history literature fans.
