Available July 29th: Lucky Us by Amy Bloom
***3/5 stars
Lucky Us is an unusual coming-of-age tale of two sisters, striking out from the boring and disappointing Midwest to Hedonistic Hollywood and the New York of both the rich and poor, meeting many interesting characters along the way.

REVIEW FROM BOOKS FOR HER:
Set around WWII, Lucky Us has a thoroughly modern voice that did not feel at all like a historical novel, but this did not take away from its charm. It is probably one of the strangest and most random novels I have ever read, and that includes the cover as well as the overall structure, plot, point of view, and characters– but it’s poignant and memorable, and interspersed with sharp, elegant, and relevant lines of prose stripping things down straight to the heart of the matter. It is difficult to describe, but worth a look.
